Functional Testing
Gut Microbiome Testing New Zealand & Australia

The GI Standard Microbiome profile test is a comprehensive gut microbiome stool test designed to assess the health, diversity, and balance of your gut bacteria from a single sample.
This functional gut health test focuses on identifying microbes that may contribute to symptoms, drive inflammation, disrupt microbial balance (dysbiosis), or impact overall gastrointestinal health.
Using PCR technology, this gut microbiome test provides a detailed snapshot of what’s happening in your gut. It assesses:
Beneficial and commensal bacteria
Pathogenic bacteria and opportunistic microbes
Fungi and yeasts
Viruses
Parasites and worms
Key markers of digestion, inflammation, and immune function
This thorough gut health testing helps uncover underlying imbalances that may be contributing to symptoms such as bloating, IBS, fatigue, skin issues, or autoimmune conditions.
From these results, we can create a personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan, alongside practitioner-only supplements where appropriate, to:
Support gut microbiome balance
Reduce chronic inflammation
Improve digestion and absorption
Restore overall gut function
The goal is to help you improve how you feel - both short and long term - with a targeted, evidence-informed approach.
Individual price: $661.17

The GutIQ - GI Metagenomic Mapping test is an advanced gut microbiome test that uses shotgun metagenomic sequencing to analyse all genetic material within a stool sample.
Unlike targeted stool testing, this method sequences everything present - providing a highly detailed and comprehensive gut microbiome analysis.
This allows for identification of:
Over 28,000 microbial species
Bacteria, viruses, fungi, and other microorganisms
Hard-to-detect or previously unidentified microbes
Overall gut microbiome diversity and ecosystem function
Because this is a non-targeted, unbiased gut test, it offers a deeper understanding of how your microbiome is functioning as a whole.
In addition to microbial analysis, this advanced gut health test provides insight into key functional markers, including:
Digestion and nutrient metabolism
Inflammation and immune activity
Gut barrier integrity (“leaky gut”)
Histamine production
Oxidative stress
Lipopolysaccharide (LPS) activity
This level of detail helps us better understand how your gut may be influencing symptoms such as chronic inflammation, food sensitivities, fatigue, or complex health conditions.
From here, we can develop a more strategic, personalised gut health plan using nutrition, lifestyle interventions, and practitioner-only supplements to support:
Microbial diversity
Gut repair and resilience
Reduced inflammation
Long-term symptom improvement
Individual price: $827.54
Included in the 16 Week Gut Inflammation Stabilisation Program
Because of the depth and clinical detail involved, this test is included exclusively within the Gut Inflammation Stabilisation Program. This allows sufficient clinic and consultation time to thoroughly interpret your results and integrate the findings into a personalised strategy that supports your overall health goals.

Additional testing may be recommended when it will help provide a more complete understanding of your health and guide more targeted, personalised recommendations.
I suggest investigations based on your symptoms, health history, and goals, where the results are likely to provide useful insights and meaningfully guide your personalised treatment plan.
Depending on your individual needs, this may include standard pathology testing (such as blood tests arranged through your GP or privately through Grounded Health), Organic Acids Test, DNA testing, or other functional tests that are relevant to your case.
Functional testing available throughout New Zealand and Australia
